For many reasons, it can happen that the DDP volumes get damaged after a wrong manipulation or a system/application crash on the clients.
Problems might then occur unless the volume data is checked and repaired, this is where the DDP verify/repair utility comes in.

If you believe that the volume file system is damaged, you might want to run that tool so that the DDP check the errors and inconsistency between the actual data and the file system.
This tool of course does’t get involved with the RAID controllers set and sees the DDP volumes as logical drives, therefore it won’t fix anything as performance issues or hard drive failures. For checking such low level issues, please refer to the RAID card volume check feature.

That said, a few precautions must be taken before running the verify/repair utility:

- First make sure that the volume you need to check is not being accessed by any user.
If users are connected to the volume or one of its folder volumes, you need to clear the connections by unmounting them before moving to the next step.

- Then you can go the “Verify/Repair” page and uncheck the “Visible” checkbox next to the volume.
If this volume has folder volumes, start to uncheck those before making the main volume invisible.
Please note that in order to be able to uncheck the “Visible” checkbox, “Archiware” and “SMB export” features should be unchecked.

- Once you are done, you can finally select the volume and click on the “Maintenance On” button, then click the “Verify” button.
The DDP will then start checking the volume file system errors. If any error is spotted, it will be reported in the output, otherwise it will just display that the volume appears to be fine as shown in the screenshot below:

When the “Verify” tool shows errors, please click on the “Repair” button so that the DDP can try fixing the file system related issues.
It might take time until the output shows the results, if the DDP indicates that the volume couldn’t be repaired, please consider updating your DDP OS.

When you are done checking/repairing the volumes,, please do not forget to click the “Maintenance Off” button so that you can make them “Visible” again and mount them on your client machines.

Note that in some cases, the verify/repair tools might not be able to repair the volumes.

When this happens, please follow this procedure.
