The Folder Volumes feature enable you to give volume properties to a particular folder of a DDP volume. This way you can connect it to any client machine as it was an actual volume.
We are pleased to announce that the Quota feature is soon going to be released. This will enable you to set up space restrictions for your Folder Volumes. This is a very useful function as it will enable you to modify the available space a user can see and use in real time!
In order to use that functionality, first create a Folder Volume as showed in the example below:
You can then decide whether to assign the full available capacity of the main volume to that particular Folder Volume, or restrict the size so that the user will see only a part of the total available capacity.
The example below shows a 100 GB volume containing a Folder Volume having its capacity limited to 50% of the total size.
Therefore the user will only have access to 50 GB out of the total 100 GB.
By modifying the quota percentage for a given Folder Volume, you can resize it in real time.
After applying your modifications you will see in the Folder Volume properties that the size has been changed accordingly:
Quota will be linked to Nagios and the administrator will be able to get real time email notifications when this needs to be changed, for example if there is no more space available for current Folder Volume.
