Running a volume check directly from the DDP web GUI “Raid checks” page is believed to be easier and safer than manually initiating it from the Areca interface.
However, when wanting to access to more RAID functions and details, one might need to directly access the Areca interface.

This can been done by clicking on the “Areca cards” button in the DDP web GUI.
A list of the detected RAID cards will appear. You will need to apply the procedure below to each of the RAID card if you want to run the volume check on all the drives.

- Select one RAID card by clicking on it
The Areca interface appears.

- Log into the Areca Interface (default: admin/0000)

- The volume set status page appears, the volume status column should display “Normal” for each volume set as shown below:

- Click on “Check Volume Set” under the “Volume Set Functions” menu.
A new page appears.

- Click on all the checkboxes as shown below and finally click the “Submit” button in order to start the volume check:

As you can see on that screenshot, you can select the volume sets you want to check. Then you can specify whether you want to remap the bad blocks or not in case of sector problems. If the two options are checked, even-though any error will still be reported, the bad sectors won’t be used anymore.

This means that after the volume check passes, you should not see any read errors in the near future. If after running a volume  check again in a 1-2 weeks time you can still see read errors, it might indicate that the drive is about to fail.

Please contact our team in such a situation as one faulty drive can affect the DDP performance.
