As mentioned previously, events related to the RAID cards/disks are also reported when configuring email notification from the web GUI. However only the most important events will be reported like disk failure, timeout, FAN malfunction, over-temp and other warnings.

Minor events will be ignored and not sent by email as they are considered as irrelevant. However for an extra level of security, you can configure email notification on the DDP RAID cards separately and choose a higher level of notification so that for example the RAID card reports by email any single event.

Be aware that if you already configured email notification from the web GUI, emails coming from the DDP and the RAID cards might overlap and you may see twice the same event in two separate email.
Please also note that in order to configure email notification from the RAID card interface, it needs to be connected to the internet.

So the first step is to plug a cable to the Areca RAID card ethernet port.

Connect to the DDP web GUI, and go to the "Raidcards" page. Select the RAID card which you want to configure email notification, and login with the user "admin" and the password "0000".

Then go the "System Controls" menu and click the "Ethernet configuration" button.
In order to connect the RAID card to the internet, you need to enable the DHCP function by selecting "Enabled" on the first line as shown in the following screenshot:

Click the "Confirm The Operation" checkbox and click the "Submit" button.
The RAID card should now get an IP address from your DHCP and be able to access the internet.

In the "System Controls" menu, go to the "Alert By Mail Configuration" page and fill in the few required field in a similar way as below:

As you can see, you can define multiple recipients with different level of warning for each.

After clicking the "Confirm The Operation" checkbox and the "Submit" button, you should be able to receive email notification from the RAID card.

A way to test it is to set the notification level to "Information notification" and go to the "Generate Test Event" page under "System Controls". From that page you can send a test event and see if you receive it to the email address you specified.
